Assistant Controller Job Purpose:
Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts; preparing financial statements.
Assistant Controller Job Duties:
Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
Provides commentary to the CFO around the results of the financial statements based on collected data and interpretation of financial data
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Helps prepare budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
Analyzes budget variances; reports finds, recommends corrective actions
Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.
Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Provides accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results and other duties as needed

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
