5K a year The Port Director is responsible for the overall management of all Port programs, activities, strategic objectives, budgets, and long range planning to drive organizational growth and development.
The Director reports to the Florence Lauderdale County Port Authority Board of Directors.
Among other things the Director is responsible for providing strategic direction and implementing high quality sustainable vision that will provide lasting economic benefits to the Port and the region as a whole.
The Port Director, acting on behalf of the Board, manages the Port of Florence and serves as the principle executive officer.
The Port Director serves as the primary administrative officer of the Port with oversight and management of Port facilities; serves as the primary representative with Port customers, lease holders, and others; is responsible for the preparation and management of the Port budget and capital improvement plans, prepares and collects port tariffs and user fees; negotiates leases and serves as the primary point of contact for all lease holders; prepares agenda's for, as well as attends all Board of Director's meetings, insuring adherence to all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Minimum requirements for the position include a 4 year degree, as well as, 4 years of experience in a related field or related certifications as an Inland Port Manager and Inland Port Executive.
Proficiency in use of personal computer and other type office equipment; thorough knowledge of principles, practices, technique, and standards in the areas of port operations; thorough knowledge and understanding of real estate, marketing, and property management activities.
The successful candidate should exhibit the ability to work with and supervise others; with experience in risk, financial, and project management; environmental/hazardous material regulations and remediation, strategic planning and budgeting; economic development public speaking, communicating, and marketing; federal and state grant and program management; contract negotiation and management; liaison with government and associated entities; and commitment to ethical conduct and principles.
Physical requirements include such things as walking over rough terrain, bending, lifting, and climbing in year-round weather conditions.
