Job Description:
A medical assistant assists the orthopedic provider in administering treatment to patients and performs clerical duties.
Duties/Responsibilities :
Escort patients to exam rooms, takes detailed history of present illness (HPI), and confirms the reason for the visit Prepare patients for examination and be present during examination/treatment to assist the physician in treatment procedures Update electronic medical record with relevant and current information about their health condition and changes and progress in patients' health Schedule patient follow up appointments Cleans and stocks exam rooms Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted local, state, and federal guidelines; and the policies of the facility requesting the services.
Perform associated clerical tasks including scheduling, filing, returning phone calls, etc.
Maintain a safe clinical environment in accordance with all OSHA guidelines Required Skills/Abilities:
Maintain a professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
Thorough knowledge of Orthopedic terminology and anatomy Detail oriented with above average organizational skills Education and
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required Experience in a clinical setting preferred Certified Medical Assistant or X-ray tech preferred Physical Requirements:
Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting.
Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds or greater Requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) The job duties listed in this job description may not be inclusive of all requirements of this position.
